The third winner was The Square Bracket from Senior Division with the app called TeachersNearMe – created to find part time teachers for students who need additional tutoring.
Technovation was created to inspire and educate girls and women to solve real world problems through technology and inspired them to see themselves not just as users of technology, but also inventors, designers, builders and entrepreneurs.
The main action plan was to teach middle and highschool girls to make an app for a mobile phone using AppInventor (a programme from MIT). The training was 12 weeks long which allowed the young girls and their mentor to go through the curriculum together and create an app that address a problem within their community and to learn to become tech entrepreneur in the process.
As one of board members of ICT Federation in Cambodia, EZECOM placed high priority of the adoption of ICT in Cambodia; thus, we were proud to support this initiative and was excited to witness the potential of Cambodian women from the programme.
